why are iphones so much more expensive than other high end smartphones?

let me break down the cost of so called costly Apple products for you.

  • Comes preloaded with iWork suite no need to pay extra for 3rd party office suite or no need to install ad laden office suites.Comes preloaded with Apple Mail, no need to download ad laden 3rd party mail clients.

  • Comes preloaded with GarageBand, just plug iRig into your iOS device then you can use it as a pre-amp, you can even add backing tracks to your music and make music straight on your phone or tablet.

  • Uses higher frequency RAM and remember having higher frequency RAM is more beneficial for performance than having higher amounts of slow RAM.

  • The Apple A series processor use larger and faster processor cache than their Snapdragon and Exynos competitor, and it is more beneficial for performance than just having more cores and high clock speed..

  • They use faster NVMe storage module, while Android and Windows Phones are still stuck with slow eMMC modules.
  • Even an iPhone 6S and 7 with 2 GB RAM beats the hell out of phones like OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T with thrice the RAM in speed tests. Even Google’s very own and much acclaimed Pixel and Pixel XL with 4 GB RAM bit the dust in speed tests against 6S and 7.

  • Applications are way more polished on iOS than on Android or Windows Phone. For example: Camera apps on Android are just glorified filter apps while camera apps on iOS really bring out new capabilities of the device. If you install VizzyWig camera app on SE, 6S, 6S Plus, 7 or 7 Plus then you can record 5K videos at 30 FPS. There are no Android apps which can do the same.

  • iOS and Mac are highly synchronised with each other. You can record 5K videos at 30 FPS on SE, 6S, 6S Plus, 7 and 7 Plus via VizzyWig camera app. Something no Android or Windows phone can do.

  • Doesn't lag and stutter like Android because unlike Android they don’t rely on JAVA based VM to run their apps. All apps run in their native environment in iOS.

  • Android doesn't support low latency audio at kernel level. So it's useless for people who like to use their phones and tablets as MIDI controllers, DAW host, and precision instrument tuners. On the other hand iOS devices are well known for their usage as MIDI controllers.

  • All these combined with a the best after-sales service and the most responsive and helpful tech-support team.

So if you see they aren't exactly costly, with Apple you essentially get what you pay for. A high quality device with high quality components, stable OS with all necessary software straight out of the box combined with an excellent and highly responsive after-sales support.
