Apple lobbied the Indian government to prepare iPad tablets locally
Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India announced a performance-linked reward program last year to encourage large companies including Apple to produce more products locally.
The government has prepared approximately US$1 billion for the reward program to provide companies and companies that contribute to exports. Suppliers give monetary rewards. Now it is pointed out that Apple intends to participate in the plan, and even lobbied the Indian government to increase the reward amount.
A new plan launched a few days ago aims to increase the production of technology products such as tablets, laptops and servers. Reuters quoted sources as saying that Apple and many manufacturers are lobbying the Indian government because they lack the supply chain needed to produce technology products.

Apple’s existing factories in India include Foxconn, Wistron and Pegatron. It is unknown which one will win the contract or which iPad model will be produced in India.
"Nikkei Asia" also reported last month that Apple intends to increase the production capacity of iPhone, Mac and iPad in India, which will begin as soon as the middle of this year.
It is estimated that it is also related to the new incentive program introduced recently. However, it is not easy to transfer the production line from China to India. It is crucial to deal with issues such as worker treatment.
At the end of last year, workers protested, looted and destroyed the Wistron factory due to wage arrears. In the end, Apple suspended cooperation with the other party in violation of the supplier code.
