iOS 14.5 update: Apple Watch can unlock iPhone
On February 2, Apple pushed iOS 14.5 and WatchOS 7.4 beta systems. In addition to regular bug fixes, it also brought an important improvement, namely the addition of the Apple Watch to unlock iPhone.
It is reported that when the iPhone determines that the user is wearing a mask and the facial features are covered, it will automatically turn to the Apple Watch to unlock it. If the user is wearing the Apple Watch, it will directly unlock when the user is close to the phone.
Due to the impact of the new crown epidemic, the Face ID face unlock function has become a major pain point. Now it is no longer necessary to frequently remove the mask or enter the password to unlock the phone. You only need to bring the Apple Watch close to the phone to realize the second opening.
It is worth noting that this feature of WatchOS 7.4 can only unlock the phone, and cannot use Face ID for payment.
It is understood that users can directly unlock the Mac while wearing the Apple Watch, but cannot unlock the iPhone. Now this feature of the iPhone is also coming. But it's still a beta version, and the official version has to wait.
